The Dayspring Love Came Down Christmas Collection is beautiful! I was sent the Advent Table Top Devotion to review and write about… and it’s awesome. It is like a classy flip chart with a calendar and a devotion for each of the 25 days leading up to Christmas. This year has been a really busy for us, I have pondered the craziness of the season and have significantly cut back on our holiday spending and schedule. I didn’t spend hundreds of dollars on gifts for people. I made things, I gave gifts of Mary Kay products (thanks to my discount!) and I bought items from small businesses. I am sure that some of the people on our gift list will not understand our choices, but my heart has been burdened this year by the expectation to give, get and show up because it is tradition or obligation. I really want to focus my heart on the reason for the season: the day that Love Came Down and dwelt among us. Christ is the reason for our celebration, not gadgets, electronics or expensive credit card bills. I want to fill my home and my heart with reminders of Christ’s love for me and constantly remind myself of the true meaning of Christmas. As we slowly develop the decor in our home, I want the decorations to remind me of my eternal view. One of the things that I have really tried to focus on is making our home comfortable, but also a true reflection of our lives. Joshua 24:15 states ” but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” and I want that theme that Brian and I live by reflected in our decorations. We have touches of things scattered throughout the house – wall art, bible verses, etc. The previous occupants of our home were also Christians, and she had put up vinyl lettering in several areas which I left up. One area I have been struggling with is the Kitchen. There is all this space at the top of the cupboards to decorate. I don’t want to do the fake ivy because I have to DUST all those tiny leaves.
